The Telephone Support Service is talking therapy, especially for those who live outside our local group therapies.
What happen when you call?
We will conduct a triage over the telephone with you to understand your needs and where you are with your medication.
Each benzodiazepine medication has a specific half-life that influences the length of time it takes for the drug to leave the bloodstream. Individuals taking benzos for several months or more, and in high doses are likely to experience more withdrawal symptoms that last longer than those taking smaller doses for a shorter length of time. We will provide the best recovery plan that will suit your needs on tapering off your medication safely.
You will receive weekly scheduled one to one telephone calls with a specialists practitioner, who will offer support, advice and counselling throughout your journey of tapering safely off your medication.
You will discover coping techniques that will help to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. We will support you with rebound anxiety, it is common for people who take anti-anxiety medications to experience rebound anxiety when they stop taking the drugs, with or without the presence of an addiction. Through our counselling we will address those who struggle with anxiety and offer support and advice.
You will learn healthy coping mechanisms to manage your moods, stress and boredom, plus recognise those emotional triggers and how to create an actionable plan to manage them.
